Just Brakes? Try... Just Fakes.

An update on the ongoing "investigation" of the nationwide (supposed) brake repair company that refers to themselves as Just Brakes.

Over the last week I've been doing some research on this nationwide company. If you go to Ripoff Reports and type in Just Brakes in their Company Search field you'll find (as of this writing) 383 reports that are eerily similar. Oddly enough, there were only 377 over the weekend when I checked. Here's their modus operandi: they "lure" you into their green hued service bays with their $100 "special" (replace the pads/shoes on all 4 wheels, machine rotor/drums, pack the bearing, inspect break system) then sock you with all kinds of other things that usually adds up to $600 to $800 (or more) extra bones.

Got to talking with one of our employees and the same thing happened to her. She went there to get the special... when they got there they told her all kinds of things were wrong with her brakes and wanted to charge her $800 to fix it all. She didn't have the full eight bills (and who would?), so she had them do only the back breaks. This was a few months ago. Recently she had one of our other employees (who is very handy with vehicle maintenance since he was a mechanic at one time) do some work on something else and he noticed that they did nothing. As they did with our Jeep. Ironically, her vehicle was also a Jeep.

Bottom line: Just Brakes is a scam company. They lure you in and try to hit you up for things that don't have to be done... and then don't even do what they charge you for! I've submitted a BBB report on these scum bags and tend to follow this down the Yellow Brick Road. Maybe even get a class action suit going since this is OBVIOUSLY not an isolated incident.

I'll keep ya'll updated. Until then, boycott the hell out of Just Brakes. Otherwise, you too might end up... just ripped off.

That's why the check the balance of the brake system, Dumbass! Why don't you go to brake school and try and learn ALL of the different parts of the brake system. I have been a mechanic for the Military for many years and I can be the first to tell you that everything that they say is far from being a lie. The reason that you people aren't happy is because you guys are too cheap to fix your brakes. Maybe if you were to know every part of the brake system, then you would understand better. Well, maybe not considering you use the stupid jargon such as "BONES". So why don't you go out and take your car apart, fix the brakes "YOUR WAY" and tell call me and tell me whether or not you have squeaks, squeals, pull, or pulsations.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, had to pick myself up off the floor there Mr. Military mechanic. To quote my buddy Will Shakespeare: "Thou doest protest too much." Which, in plain military mechanic speak, means... you must work at a Just Fakes facility or know someone who does.
Aside from that, you say "you people" which is a painfully obvious indicator that you do in fact work there. Moron.

I can see you now: "I can fix brakes (and not very well since you do in fact work for Just Fakes)... I R SMRT."

They must not teach you to read in the military either, "anonymous" (I love people who pop off yet have to hide behind the badge of anonymity to do so). Why? Because in my previous post on this subject (I start THIS post off with "An update on the ongoing investigation" logically indicating that there was in fact a previous post, which was made just a few short days before this one entitled "Braking up is hard to do")... I clearly state that the Jeep dealership was in fact the one that said Just Fakes lied. And after checking the Ripoff Reports website... this happens A LOT and isn't isolated to just the one I visited.

So give me a break, dumbass.

Yep, you got me. I works for Just Brakes. They way I see it, there are tens of millions of brake systems out there that I can replace. We will just keep our "specials" going and keep all those suckers coming in. Especially the little old ladies!

After visiting "Just Fakes" recently, I am under the impression that there has never been an actual customer that droce off with the $99.00 special. I witnessed all the customers(including myself) being presented with large (we recommend to fix) INVOICES! I fought off the urge o give in and got off cheap compared to some. Good Fricking Luck if you choose to go there for brake service. - fastbird78

Hello. I find your blog very interesting. having a car is rather troublesome and costly, I hope you do agree. If you happen to find a good repair center, then lucky you are. Last time I had to deal with the repair company, I went to Just Brakes. It is a brake specialty repair company. Now, I think that before going there I should have checked www.pisseconsumer.com where customers share their experience, bitter one.

What do you expect from a company that runs ads bragging that "it's just $99.88 for all four wheels. And that INCLUDES INSTALLATION!" A brake job that "includes installation". No shit.

Just Brakes really is a big scam. I visited one in GA and after they put on a whole show about why I needed to pay $600+ to fix various problems with my brakes, I told them to put my car back together and got the hell out of there as quickly as possible. Not to mention, how much they try to bully you while you're in there. "This is really important. This is something you need to do. Etc,etc."
Unfortunately my brother was not so lucky and got taken for $500+ before we knew what a ripoff they were. I'm all for a class action lawsuit. What they do, is literally, theft.
